The big sandbar that Jones Beach is on, is an Island with no name.

    The Prince Edward that you are thinking of is not the one that our PEI is named after however.

  5. Most of the names that have been given to islands and provinces are very historical. So, using your example of Prince Edward, at the time it was named, the current Prince Edward had not even been born. Alaska also has many names of places after members of the royal family such as Prince William Sound and Prince of Wales Island, but neither refer to the current men with those titles. As to whether or not the United States should name an island after Diana, I think definitely not. She never wanted all the big fuss that she often received from the public and I think she would have thought having an island named after her silly.

  6. Depends who has the rights to that sandbar. They can call it whatever they want.

  7. It's a good idea. I think the island should be named after the Black Prince. Not only would this be a genuine, historical, royal connection but also be politically correct.
