  1. Yes, I'm sure that if we were able to perform miracles that are implied by the bible, and if there were even some TINY bit of evidence that it was actually us doing it, that would make it a lot easier for people to believe. At least, it would make it easier for people to believe in supernatural powers, there wouldn't necessarily be a way to prove that the powers stemmed from some kind of biblical source.

  2. I see you omitted the scripture reference for your assertion.

Jesus did that and he allowed the apostles to use that power, but I don't see where it was passed on to today.

  3. I think the bigger question is, if they did that then why can't we?

  4. No because then we would get all tied up in the miracles . I don't think  anyone truly believes in God until they receive his spirit, and if we are only seeing miracles we not getting the full picture..

  5. Number one, it does still occur today, it's just not broad casted all over the news like it should be and most people just don't know where to look for it or have the faith for it.  People always were looking for signs and probably always will be.  But wasn't there scripture where he spoke against looking for the signs, and spoke saying something to the effect of unbelievers looking for signs and finding none?  Unbelief is a major blockage for signs and wonders.

There is scripture that says he didn't do many miracles because of their unbelief.

He also said the signs would follow them that believe, not the other way around.

He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  So yes, we can still do those things.  Maybe we just need to pray as the one man looking for a healing, I believe it was for his daughter.   He said, "Lord, I believe.  Help mine unbelief."

  6. All your god needs to do is show himself, that would make it a helluva lot easier to believe. So far, he's a no show and a dead beat dad.

  7. The LDS do that by use of the Priesthood, you will never read about it, see it on the news, it is sacred, not secret. Although, raising of the dead is very very rare.

  8. NO - it would make believing that Christians have some extraordinary powers easier, but it wouldnt prove the reality of God at all...

After all, you cannot say that there is evidence that Santeria black magic is "real" and that it tends to work on those that believe in it - does that mean you are gonna run out and believe in that religion???

  9. --If you raised the dead, we'd have a zombie holocaust.

--If you healed all the sick, the world would be a lot more overpopulated than it already is. No disease+no death=no space.

--If you cast out demons, we'd have to pay for homeless demon shelters, and it would be very sad to see them panhandling on the streets.

Though it would give Christianity a lot more credibility, I'd really glad you guys can't do that stuff. Also, if Christianity was given actual proof, people might make laws forcing it onto everyone, which would be an invasion of free will and basic human rights.

  10.   The gifts of healing and expelling demons and resurrecting dead people, were only a demonstration of the things to come under the thousand year rule of Christ. Those gifts or power were only temporary, to prove to the people in those days that God's favor had shifted from the natural Israel to the spiritual Israel made up of Jews and Gentile. Also those things existed because the Christian Church was like a babe starting to grow up or maturing.Hebrews 5:12 thru 6:2. - John 20:29 - Mathew 7:21-23

  11. The LDS do see these things all the time (except for the raising of the dead which is rare), and they do have strong faith - but the faith precedes the miracle.  The faith has to come first.  Those who convert because they saw a miracle seldom stay long.  The only real miracle that has the power to change the heart is the testimony of the Holy Ghost that comes to those who diligently seek it (again - faith precedes the miracle).

  12. A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

    - Matt 6:4 KJV

In contrast to the so called 'healing revivals' we sometimes hear about in the West, the Church in China has and is experiencing genuine revival on a Biblical, Apostolic scale. Today alone approximately 30,000 people will get saved in China to add to their 100million plus church. Why? The house church believers display a passion unequaled in the church worldwide mainly due to their circumstances of intense persecution from the Communist government.

Many believers spend years in prison for their faith. Brokenness, repentance, humility and a willingness to trust, obey and lay it all down for the Lord has turned China into one of the most remarkable stories in Church history. Must see video that will challenge your faith and who you are in Jesus, to the core.

In China there are miracles and even people are raised from the dead, but that is never the emphasis of the house church Christians, the Cross always remains at the center of their faith. In our comfortable Western Christianity, we would do well to learn from China  http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?vi...

All TRUE miracles are done in the name of JESUS and for His Glory! If undue emphasis is placed on miracles or those preforming them, I would be VERY leery.

"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."  (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 KJV)

  13. Those with ears to hear and have eyes to see and a heart to perceive.

But God said He will close the ears, eyes and hearts of those in the end days.  They "choose" not to and He will ensure that they don't.

Then, when they cry out to Him, He will say to them; "I know you not".

These things,of miracles, will come to those of faith, for each other.

Many will see them, too late.

  14. I would like to think so.

No wonder the devil works hard to keep people believing those days are over.

I've seen a fair share of miracles in my day and I can say that they are real, and meant for us today.

  15. If people are determined not to believe, nothing will make them. They would see it as trickery.

Now, having said that, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka LDS, aka Mormons, do have the Priesthood, that makes it possible for man to exercise God's power, like in the Bible.

  16. You mean like Benny Hinn and the Evangelical Leader's that lay their hands upon the head of the sick?  Many claim that they were healed and many claim that they were not healed.  That comes to my mind when Jesus went around healing all those thousands of people and he asked them, "Do you have faith that you are healed?"  And the sick would say, "Yes, my Lord I  believe I am healed!"  And Jesus says, "Your FAITH has healed you.  Go and sin no more."  You gotta have faith that you are healed and nothing after that is impossible for God.  I also hear people talking that they heal themself with faith in Jesus that Jesus will touch them and heal them.  What more proof do people need that Jesus still touches people as we speak.

  17. If there were verifiable reports of these things happening, I would certainly be more likely to believe.

  18. I think it happens today but, it would be viewed as Impossible and faked.

There are lots of egocentric money grubbing fakes out there !

But I believe on the Spirit and the power of God, so I believe it happens.

I think with all the subterfuge people as a whole just don't see it.
