I personally think this whole global warming thing is one big political scam.

  1. The average global temperature in 1995 reached 15.39 degree celcius breaking the previous mark of 15.38 degree celcius in 1990.Perhaps more important than this single-year record was the additional evidence we get about a trend of rising temperature since the late1970s.The 10 warmest years in the last 130 years have all occured in the 1980s and 1990s.And within these ten, the three warmest years were in the 1990s.

What makes the high average temperature of 1995 all the more important is that it occured without the influence of natural phenomena that at times contribute to warm temperatures.El Nino, the warm-waterpool that appers in the Pacific ocean in a cycle of 4 or five years was absent and the solar energy cycle was at its lowest point. This supports the theory that what is altering the earth's climate is the acumulation in the atmosphere of greenhouse gases generated  by human activities.

Regarding the supposed drop in the average temperature, I would like to add one thing .

Tropospheric aerosols(dust and other debris emitted in the burning of fossil fuels and vegetation,by volcanic eruptions and from other sources) cancel out roughly one-third of the warming  caused by rising greenhouse gas concentrations.

Further, because of what is called 'themal inertia'of the oceans(the fact that they take a very long time to start warming up as the atmospheric temperature rises, and will continue to warm up long after the atmosphere has stabilized),the eventual extent of global warming will not be evident until many years,or even centuries, after that.

  2. Source?

  3. I  agree with your idea that it's a political scam. I have also read that before, that the temperature has actually dropped slightly.

  4. Actually, the question you're asking is the scam. Why not compare the decade we're in to the decade before it?  Because you wouldn't like the answer: this decade is substantially warmer than the previous, which was also warmer than the one before it.  Your question is comparing  one particular year against another, and the shorter the time period that you look at the greater the fluctuations.  You have to look at the trend over longer time scales, and there is little argument these days that the Earth is warming--even that great scientist George W. Bush seems to be coming around.

Your question is equivalent to the following:

Why, if it's getting closer to summer at my house as each day passes, was it warmer last weekend than it is today?

Global warming is not one big political scam; the political scam lies on the other side, on the people that are denying it.  People knew the Earth was going to warm because of carbon dioxide emissions many years ago, the science is quite clear on that.

EDIT: Ok, let's try this again and maybe you'll understand it this time.

    1.  Despite being in a La Nina (cool ocean) phase, March 2008 was the warmest March ever recorded globally for land surfaces, and the second warmest March ever for land and ocean combined.

    2. The past decade (the one where you say the Earth is cooling!) has been the warmest ten years ever recorded.  All your cooling nonsense is based on one exceptionally warm year.  You can see the plots and data at http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/rese...

    3. Forget Al Gore, he's not the one doing the science, and he gets some things wrong.  Take a look the IPCC report Climate Change 2007 - The Physical Science Basis: Working Group I Contribution to the Fourth Assessment Report of the IPCC (Climate Change 2007)  It's one of the most amazing scientific efforts I've ever seen.  Check it out of the library, buy it from Amazon or download it for free at http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-wg1.h...

    4. Carbon credits may be a scam, it's hard to tell right now.  There will always be people seeking to make a profit where they can, but believe me, that's not what's motivating the scientists of the IPCC--they could make a lot more money doing other things.
