Because Colombia is a paradise on earth. I invite everyone in the world to go to Colombia. I am pretty sure you will love it. It's just that US government dont want any americans to be captured by the FARC...unfortunally they got 2 americans and that is why...but that is just in the jungle...i invite everyone to enjoy my country, it's a wonderful place!! good luck, nice question

Because

a) Those are merely advisories, people are free to do their own thing

b) North Americans tend to believe the rest of the world is a dangerous jungle when they have kids killing each other right on their backyard

c) The US advisories are usually pretty grimm

d) An innocent american has more chances of getting victimized (thanks to the actions of their government) than a citizen of any other country

e) Because Colombia is dangerous, a bit more than other places but that doesn't mean it is overly dangerous

In the past 8 months I went twice to Medellin, Colombia and I felt very safe (just don't go to dark mountain places at night). People are very friendly and it was just fabulous.

It's just that the United States won't help you if you are stuck there. But I agree, it is a beutiful country with a great culture. I've been twice now and loved it both times (Although once I was almost shot when I apparently stumbled into a man's "garden")!

I am Colombian.....and Invite everyone to come to this beautiful paradise of a Country. We do have it all....very diverse culture with an amazing geography, flora and fauna.....

The reason its on the US black list is due to the Guerilla.

and as much as we invite people to this country....they do exist and people do need to warn about the potential danger.

But like traveling to any country.....there is risk involved anywhere you go.....and travelers like myself know that as long as we take all potential precautions....we should be relatively safe....
