Question:

If Communism was so terrible, how come former communist countries aren't so quick to throw it away?

The only ex-communist countries that want nothing to do with communism now are those countries that were occupied by the Soviet Union (ie East Germany and Ukraine and Afghanistan). This is because communism in these countries was coercive and aimed not at bettering THEIR OWN communities, but rather the beaurocrats in Moscow.

Communism that comes from within a locality (not coerced) creates the most FREE society you can you can possibly establish where all who are able to contribute do so, and all receive based on their needs.

You can be a Fisherman by morning, to a Musician by Afternoon, to a Newspaper critic by evening. Because property is managed by the interests of ALL members of the community and profit is not the SOLE attribute, there is no desire to aspire for wealth, because instead you are liberating work life and the definition of what it means to GO to work and what kind of work you can do during your life.

Also Communism isn't all the same. There's anarchist communism where "Labor Unions" fight the class struggle instead of government. You can also have NON-coercive communism with Free Speech and nonviolent means to encourage participation. You can have communism founded on religious principles.

Why do people just wipe out ALL forms of communism simply because the communist countries that went bad were the worst dictatorial forms? That's like saying Christianity is bad bad bad bad bad because of the crusaders. Communism is AWESOME, those who misused it are to blame, NOT THE SYSTEM!

  1. Hear Hear... when profit is the only motive society eventually eats itself, when fulfilling Human potential without the false "Reward" of useless and wasteful materialism is achieved, then the Humanities flower..

Communism as it was practiced by Stalin or Mao is not communism at all, but base line despotism being called "Communism" ... The same way we call the United States "Democratic" when it is in fact a capitalist Republic.

and the tired responses in this room to these questions are proof beyond any doubt that state run Propaganda is a well used device... In America we regularly place leaders that work against our common good, in fact I think that you could argue that the entire system is corrupt and working against the people.

Edit: Oh yea you morons... and Capitalism is working so well ...LOL "&" is a perfect example, he didn't even read your question.. amazing, "autopilot stupid" ...perfect!

  2. There is no communist country where people are allowed to choose their career.  It is chosen for you by politicians.  You are a slave of the state.  Be a musician at night?  Do you want to go to jail?  Do you understand that the arts are state controlled due to fear of freedom of expression?  Someone has been lying to you and you were not smart enough to go check it out.  Please get a real educattion, read books, do some research.  History is critical to the future.

  3. Could you list a few of these communist countries that came from locality, peacefully. China, the largest communist nation ever, slaughtered over 70 million people on it's way to becoming a communist nation. The system is not awesome. Competition is what makes things work. If all doctors get paid the same, and you can't work hard and get better to earn more money, then people start doing the bare minimum since they aren't going to earn more if they work harder.

  4. You are certifiably an ignoramus. Ever heard of Lithuania, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia,  Estonia, Moldova, Bulgaria, all the former Yougoslavic countries, Poland, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, etc. Why don't you ask these other countries how life was like under Soviet and communist rule? Instead of preaching to Americans about giving communism another shot, why don't you leave and become a citizen of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. If you want to be a mere slave to government, be my guest, but stay the h**l away from me you commie pinko!

  5. That is a really easy one to answer.  "Power".  Nothing more.

Even China, which is a fiercly communist country admits it does not work.  They found that workers would always do the minimum.  A while back some farmers asked the government if they could keep any extra they produced.  The government immediately recognized this as what it was, "capitalsm", but said, "let's give it a try."  It was such a smashing success that even China allows it on a grand scale - while still retaining their power.

By the, you ar not alone in your thoughts.  I am not trying to convince you to drop your communist beliefs.  It's just that we don't practice it here in the US.   Perhaps you should consider moving to China or the soviet union.  You might be happier.

  6. The only appropriate response is ROFLMAO.

  7. The best example of the communist system - in practice and not just in theory - is the old USSR.

When ever there was a food shortage, the state would lease land to the farmers and the farmers were free to sell their goods at local markets. This very small percentage of "satellite farms" would often produce 50% of the total agricultural output - and, that my friend, sounds like capitalism to me.

  8. I'm sorry, but that is an incredibly stupid observation.

Do you know what communism is?

The have "control" over the "wishes" of it's citizens.

Why on earth do you think they're not allowed to vote.

If communism is d**n good, show me a country were the people actually voted, and chose communism.

    Please.

  9. Yeah but it stifles incentive and as such has a huge likelihood of failure. Whether right or wrong, good or bad some of us want more out of life. I feel that done properly within a certain group, a commune, it could become successful. I also think that its' never been tried on a national level and even small attempts have collapsed over time. Useless consumerism and the constant need to raise prices as people demand more and more is one of the curses of capitalism- merely look at the fact that we work half our lives to pay off a house that is worth a fraction as much as we end up paying for it.

  10. "Eric", if you just ask a question instead of making speech, somebody might answer it.

  11. Power.

True communism means everyone including the political leaders are "equal."  Sadly that is not the case.  Putin does not live in the same squalor as his constituents, neither do the leaders of China or Cuba.  True communism is not found anywhere on this planet - only a corrupt version that powerful leaders will not give up.

  12. Oh, do share with us where these communist utopia's are.  Cuba, North Korea, China ?  Please we are all waiting with bated breathe to hear which communist country allows you to fish in the morning and be a musician in the afternoon.

Are you older than 10?  Try cracking a history book, it happens more times a day than you can imagine.
