  1. If that were to happen people would be up in arms.

  2. If states like Massachusetts can get away with socializing health care, then I would say no, the sheeple will reluctantly give up their right to bare arms

  3. yes  but i think a revolution is an understatement  my numbers arent exact so dont qoute me but theres like to million private gun owners and if they think there getting mine the stupid theres enough guns out there in just our military let alone our civilians to start a war in a week and theres to many people that arent registered or stolen so we'd never be able to get them all  itll never happen it would be anarchy

  4. I don't know about a revolution. But, I do know that the criminals would have a FIELD DAY robbing  innocent people.

  5. Congress can't ban private ownership of firearms without a new Amendment to the Constitution to repeal the Second Amendment.

And if they tried it...well...it wouldn't be pretty.

  6. Our law enforcement and military personal  voluntarily apply and work in their positions without conscription.   Most of them are gun owning private citizens just as many members of the Legislative Branch are.  Even if the law was passed, who would enforce it?

  7. Yes, there would be.

From the criminals and the terrorists.

And the gun manufacturers would take their side, and the NRA would pay for a lawsuit.

When the UK, Canada, and Australia all banned private ownership of firearms, there was outrage at first, but it quickly settled down.

And by the way, the US government has enough bombs and missiles to easily suppress any revolution, so this idea that we can prevent government oppression by having guns is archaic and ridiculous.

  8. Congress doesn't have that authority.

but hypothetically speaking if they did, it would be vetoed by the president as unconstitutional.  But if it did get past the president the Supreme Court has already ruled that it is unconstitutional.

  9. I wouldn't want to be the S.O.B. going to peoples houses to collect them.  And who would they get to collect them?  Nobody I know in law enforcement or the military would go to their brothers house to take the weapons.  But if they did, yes, there would be blood, a lot of blood!

  10. yes

  11. Yes definitely so.

  12. Remember New Orleans?

Well, they'd better invest in plenty of body bags.

  13. Dam right

  14. We saw what happened in New Orleans when he government stole legally owned firearms from law abiding citizens.  I doubt the whole country will cooperate so easily.

  15. Let me put it this way:

Would you rather armed citizens against armed criminals

    OR

Would you rather unarmed citizens against armed criminals

Even if Congress would ban private ownership of firearms, not everyone is going to follow that rule.  Revolution is not the right word...I think a rise in crime rates would occur.

I don't think Congress will get away with that one.  If citizens don't have guns to fight criminals against, then we will have to use something else....like meat cleavers, and homemade fireworks....and other unique things.  :D

  16. Oh Come Now - it isn't going to happen so relax.  What if Congress made a law turning the US over to Canada?  Is that likely to happen.  Or what if Congress made a law banning right wingers - that would be good, but it isn't going to happen either.

  17. This is such a silly controversy. What Congress, the President and the Supreme Court forget is that the Constitution was written for the common people!

As the bumper stickers said in the 1970s, "When Guns Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Guns".

So, yes, at least if some of us oldtimers had our way, there would be a Revolution (guaranteed to us by our Constitution).

  18. well....most wouldn't give'em up anyway....and if pushed, it wouldn't be pretty!

  19. Yes

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." - Thomas Jefferson

  20. It never fails to amaze me how people misinterpret the 2nd amendment. The 'right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed' does not mean that we have a right to shoot our next-door neighbor because we think he's a racist or a burglar. The 'right' to bear arms was intended to allow the people to protect itself from a tyrannical and oppressive government. We have the 'right' - indeed, the obligation - to start a revolution against any individual, group or private power who tries to take over our country. The problem is that few of us will ever get up off the couch, put down the remote, and actually take up arms against such a government. So we wallow in all this 'tough talk' and yet do nothing - absolutely nothing - to defend ourselves against the corporate powers, special interest and wealthy elitists who keep a stranglehold on our government.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson

But who out there has the courage, ambition, patriotism or absolute commitment to actually get off their butts and challenge the government? Who of us really, truly has the stomach for another American revolution? We're too 'fat and sassy', far too comfortable, and entirely too soft for such mutiny!

It's easy to sit in front of a computer and talk 'tough'; it's a helluva lot more painful to actually risk bloodshed, or death, to take back our country. -RKO-  07/02/08

  21. I would expect one.  But, don't worry....I'm well stocked with ammo.

  22. Of course there would, and I would be the one to start it.

  23. I bet if it came to that, even the firmest believers of the Second Amendment will hand them over. We have become too fearful of a society to revolt, in my honest opinion.

  24. Well, I'm not going to just hand it over to them.

  25. I think that, unfortunately, there will probably be an insurrection of some type, and I hope that the insurrection will be put down successfully.
