  1. We'll never know for sure, but we do know that when the all star line up of handlers that created Mike left, he stopped boxing "professionally."

I think it was Jimmy Jacobs who spilled the beans.  In his early career, Mike was very active.  A reporter asked Jimmy why he made Mike fight so often.  Jimmy replied, "To keep him out of trouble."

  2. Great question...Thumbs Up ACEMAN

  3. Without the influence and direction of that group, I believe we would have heard nothing of Mike as a boxer.  In addition, I believe that he would have long ago ended up either in prison or would have passed away with hardly anyone ever hearing his name.

  4. Sing Sing  or Potters Field.

  5. Yes......obviously Mike benefitted from the wisdom of Cus & Company just as he began to lose these benefit's starting with Cus' passing. ---- I knew some Detectives who knew Tyson from the age of 11 or 12.---- Tyson had already been in Spofford Juvenile Dentention Center in Bronx, NY & on one occasion had attempted to assault a male staff psychologist. These Detectives ( who knew Tyson & were aware of this incident ) went to Cus & told him about the fact that Mike's size, punch & rage enabled him ( even at the age of 11 or 12 ) to pose a serious physical threat to most grown men. The Detectves added that they thought Mike displayed great potential to channel his assets into boxing. I understand when Cus first laid eyes on Mike at this " introduction "----Cus' eye's lit up  because he, too, recognized Mike's potential .
