If Danica Patrick joins NASCAR will they still say "Gentlemen start your engines"?

Or will they have to say something else? I can't imagine them getting rid of the most famous words in Motorsport...

  1. They have said, in the past and whenever a woman races in NW or trucks, "Ladies & Gentlemen,...." or "Drivers,....."


  2. I know "back in the day" if there was a female in the race they would say "Lady and Gentlemen start your engines". Now though they would probably say drivers...It's more PC

  3. No. when women have run in the field in the past they include ladies in the "most famous words in Nascar".

    given her cojones on the race track and off, they may just stick with "gentlemen."  (this being said by a guy wearing a "danica's first win t-shirt.")  

    although, i'm not quite sure all of the drivers out there now deserve the title of "gentleman" to begin with.

    "drivers start your engines" seems more appropriate.  think of how many jokes would need to be changed if there were more than four words (e.g. "what are the last four words to the national anthem?"  "duh," said the nascar fan, "gentlemen, start your engines."  or "what are a nascar fan's favorite four words?" "gordon's in the wall" (or now busch i guess))

    and to the man who owns the danicas first win t shirt:

    get a marker and write under that "after three years of losing. and still becoming the most popular driver."

    and there ladies and gentlemen. is why Indy is retarded. the biggest sensation in the sport cant even win.

    well heres another sensation. LEWIS HAMILTON. the first black man to race in Formula 1, won 7 out of 17 races his ROOKIE season. and he missed out on the championship title by ONE point. thats sensational.

    danica patrick losing a lot is not sensational.

If you pay attention, they don't always say "Gentlemen start your engines".  Sometimes they say "Drivers start you engines".  They have said "Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines" in the past when a women drove in the race.  Once they even said "Gentlemen and Jimmy Spencer start your engines.  Classic.

  16. I remember when the BAM racing car had a female driver, it seemed like every week they announced the drivers a different way, I guess it depends on who is doing the announcement. The most common announcement however was, " Drivers".

  17. Wow, USA racing is failing if NASCAR is now considered a "step up" from Indy cars.

    Go ALMS! Far better technology, drivers, and racing than both IRL and NASCAR, or anything going in circles for that matter.

    I just hope Danica stays where she is and wins the Indy 500 and a championship even before making such a move.

    alternate ways would be "Lady and gentlemen start your engines"

    or "Gentlemen and Danica,start  your engines"
