  1. because that happens to be where his companion lives.

  2. Hahaa  good question, . Perhaps the fuel cost to much

  3. Well, he's got an english accent.  Perhaps he likes that era and place.

  4. cos he can't afford the petrol to go anywhere else (and maybe he secretl fancies someone in 21st century London and is tryin to get off with her....)

  5. He doesn't have the budget to travel to too many planets ...........

  6. Well he happens to be quite fond of Earth and for some reason, so do all his enemies. He is obviously a fan of 21st Century London so the bad guys just cause devastation there to spite him.

  7. You have got room to talk!

How can you be on here and on ITV2 at the same time eh!

  8. He has to come back every three months to pay his phone bill

  9. That's simply not the case.

In the last series for instance :-

Episode 2 "The Fires of Pompeii", took place in ancient Pompeii on the day Vesuvius erupted.

Episode 3 "Planet of the Ood" took place on the planet Oodsphere in the far future.

Episode 6 "The Doctor's Daughter" took place on the planet Messaline, again in the far future.

Episode 7 "The Unicorn and the Wasp" took place at a garden party near Newland's Corner, Surrey in 1926

Episodes 8 and 9 "Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead" were set on a distant planet in the far future simply known as "The Library".

Episode 10 "Midnight" was set on the distant planet called Midnight, again in the far future

Much of episodes 12 and 13 "The Stolen Earth / Journey's End" were set far across the Universe on the Dalek's "Crucible" in the Medusa Cascade.

The only episodes from series 4 set in 21st century London were episodes 1, 4, 5 and 11. Even then episode 11 "Turn Left", began on another planet in the future, and the bits in London were in an alternate reality.

Other examples of episodes from previous series not set in present day London include the episodes:-

    From series 1

2 "End of the World" (far future space station, year 5 billion)

3 "The Unquiet Dead" (Victorian Cardiff)

6 "Dalek" (underground bunker in Utah, USA, 2012)

7 "The Long Game" (Satellite 5, approx 50,000 years in the future)

9 and 10 "The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances" (World War 2 London, during the blitz)

    11 "Boomtown" (present day Cardiff)

12 and 13 "Bad Wolf / Parting of the Ways" (The Games Station, approx 50,100 years in the future)

    From series 2

    1. "New Earth" (planet New Earth, after year 5 billion)

    2. "Tooth and Claw" (late 19th century, Scottish Highlands)

    4. "Girl in the Fireplace" (51st Century spaceship and 17th Century France)

7 "The Idiots Lantern" (London, 1953)

8 and 9 "The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit" (a "Sanctuary Base" on a distant planet in the far future, orbiting a black hole)

    From series 3

2 "The Shakespear Code" (London, 1599)

3 "Gridlock" (planet "New Earth", approx 100 years after the year 5 billion)

4 and 5 "Daleks in Manhattan / Evolution of the Daleks" (1930s New York)

7 "42" (a spaceship orbiting a distant star in the far future)

    8 & 9 "Human nature / Family of Blood" (Farringham School, 1913)

11 "Utopia" (the planet Malcassairo, approx 100 trillion years in the future)

So, out of 55 episodes in the new series so far (including Christmas specials), only 20 have been set in modern day London or close to it, and 3 of those were in an alternate reality, one was in the 1980s, another was in 2012 and another was mostly set in the spaceship "Titanic".

  10. A question I would like to ask myself,

probably to appeal to a captive audience, or a lack of budget.
