Question:

If EVERYONE on your favorite team got traded?

Let's say your favorite team (Team 1) decided to trade all their players in exchange for all of another team's players (Team 2). And they only kept the Owners, GM, coaches, and the rest of the staff.

Would you be loyal to your favorite team or would you have to change favorite teams?

So Team 1 or Team 2?

  1. That sounds a whole lot like the Caps 2004 season.  I would remain loyal to my Capitals, but the other team would be my #2 no question, and I would follow them very closely.

  2. I dont care what happens to the Panthers I will ALWAYS be loyal to them.

  3. ill stay loyal but become a secondary fan to to team 2

  4. What can I say, I'm a Leaf fan. We're on the verge of finding out how loyal Leaf fans really are, since they are doing just that - trading everbody they can and cutting the rest. Only problem is, they aren't bringing in the new talent.  Looks like Cliff was a bit pissed about missing out on Stamkos and wants to make sure it doesn't happen with Tavares too.

Ooops, they didn't get the memo in time to keep the GM and coaches. Don't worry we're trying to trade the owners too. But yeah, I'll always be a Leaf fan over and above a player's fan.

Seriously, how upset can you get over losing McCabe, Antropov, Ponikorovski, Stajan and what ever else we have left?

  5. I'd stay loyal, because they're my hometown team...

    :)

  6. I would stay loyal. Actually I'd be happy. LOL (Leafs)

  7. Team 1 would still be my favourite team. Players come and go, eventually everyone who is currently on the Leafs roster will be gone one day but the Leafs will still be my favourite team.

  8. I always represent my hometown teams first and foremost, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like the other players who got traded still.....

  9. I would be greatly upset but i would be loyal. i would still like team 2. Maybe team 2 would be better, but Team 1 would still be my secret favorite team at heart.

  10. Well, truth be told, the Lightning appear to be headed that way. This may be a very real question for Tampa fans to deal with :)

i admire players on a lot of other teams, so it really would depend on who was being traded.

I think that were we getting the Penguins, last season's Thrashers, Sharks, or Stars, I would. Otherwise, I don't think I would be loyal.

Especially not to that ownership! (got that, OK Hockey??)

  11. Team 1. Even though it would be good to see the media get out of Pittsburgh and to another team. But I still don't want to trade away our team, not even for the Red Wings(who are stacked).

  12. Like both teams...

  13. I'd stick with team 1, although I would wish team 2 the best of luck.

  14. I'm not sure what I would do.  Probably swear off the NHL all together.

  15. mine the bluejacket thywould make the palyoff

  16. I'd probably stay loyal, I love cheering for my home team. But..I don't know. Team 2 would definately be my 2nd favorite if not first.

  17. I'll still root first and formost for my fav team

  18. I would cry, I would go into mourning, and I would end up rooting for both teams. And I'd try to convince my mom and dad to move to where team 1's players got traded to.

  19. I don't cheer for the players as individuals, I cheer for the players that are representing my favorite team.

I may not like a trade that my team has made but I will always be loyal to the team.

  20. It probably depends on if your team sucks or is good.

As a Wings fan I'd be PISSED.  I'd still go for the Wings, but would still follow the "ex-Wings".

Little known fact is that back in the late '80s or early '90s there was talk of that EXACT thing happening.  The GM's of the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers were conversing about trading entire teams.  I don't know why (maybe money issues), but I have heard that surface a number of times.  I'm glad they didn't.  I think it was close to happening, but obviously it didn't.

  21. i would stay loyal to my home team

  22. Yeah, with Cable TV, where you get every game the league plays, it's kind of weird that we still pledge allegiance to one team, based on city, but I would still do that, no matter who was traded where.

I grew up watching the Detroit Red Wings locally (and going to games) and the Toronto Maple Leafs on the CBC, Hockey Night in Canada, Channel 9.    Those are my teams, 1 & 2, in that order, and it's all about the jersey.   If they traded entire rosters, I'd root for the new guys in the Wings/Leafs jerseys.

  23. Well the lightning are doing this..lol. Right now, you stay with your team, but still watch the guys that left and wish them the best. We only have 2 left that was from the Stanley Cup year. I am finally learning that it is all part of the game.

  24. None of the players on my team (the Leafs) were there when I started watching as a kid in the '80s, and they're still my team.  Players are transitory, teams are forever. My answer is Team 1 hands down.  I'd probably follow Team 2 more than I previously did (like how I cheer for the Bruins when they play anyone but the Leafs), but it wouldn't phase my team identification in the slightest.

  25. I think I would stay loyal to Team 1, but Team 2 is now my second favorite team in the L.

  26. This basically has happened to the Ducks. From the team of 2003 only a few players remain. Jiggy, Sammy and Rob. So, I watch a lot of hockey. I watch the former Ducks, but I still watch the Ducks.

  27. first i would say "thank you lord, we might now make the playoffs"

and then keep cheering for Toronto.

  28. So you are asking which team outside my team  would I or will follow?

If the Wings arent playing I will watch (on Center Ice) ..... any good matchup~
