  4. The Great Turtle only sleeps once every 108 million years, and then it sleeps for approximately 54 million years before waking again.  Scientists actually believe that the Great Turtle has been asleep for over 30 million years at this point in history.  All efforts to send turtlegrams (which was the original mission of NASA) have failed.

The Great Turtle is actually much larger than the earth.  In fact, it is over 90 times more massive.  But if you think earth's turtle is massive, you should see the one that holds up Jupiter!  It's our turtle's mommy.

The reason that we don't fall off is three-fold.  First, its because we're caught in the turtle's gravity well.  We couldn't fall off if we wanted to.  Second, when the turtle shifts, it just causes the earth to roll, not fall.  This is responsible for some major climate changes until the earth's orbit is stabilized again. Third, the Great Turtle usually doesn't shift much from side to side.  It's like a sea turtle, swimming in the sea of space.  When it sleeps, it just stops swimming and closes its 10,000 eyes.

Interestingly enough, our Moon's turtle isn't related to any of the other turtles in the solar system.  It is fully grown and has a bright glistonian shell, visible only by butterflies.  It does answer turtlegrams sent by NASA.  Some of the turtlegrams it sends NASA are quite lengthy.  For instance the entire script for the TV-show "Lost" came from our Moon Turtle.  Also, several songs by Ricky Martin and a nice recipe for Carrot Cake (interesting for its use of pineapple).  The FBI even thought the Moon Turtle might be the Unabomber at one point.

  5. Turtles don't sleep they just go inside to watch the maury show...lol that makes no sense

  6. Turtles can't turn, if they did they would suffer a horrible death being trapped upside down for days until being eating by some giant space eagle... and besides... space doesn't have gravity... so there's probably some sort of massive density inside the turtle preventing us from flying around :S
