If Ezzarc Charles had won the Light Heavyweight Title, .....?

How long could he have held on to it?

thumbs up to toughguy....ezzard --if given the oppertunity-- would've held the light heavy tiitle for as long as he wanted.

at heavyweight, he split 4 fights with walcott, and gave the great marciano 2 terrific bouts, so at light heavy, where he beat no.1 all time l h great archie moore 3 times, would have dominated.

I already rank Ezzard Charles as the #10 greatest heavyweight of all time.  If he had wanted to become light heavyweight champ, I have no doubt he would have won it and possibly would never have been beaten!  He really was that good in my opinion.  I generally rank Archie Moore as the greatest light heavyweight champion of all time and Charles beat hime three times including once by knockout.  He also beat Joey Maxim 5 times who is also a former light heavyweight champ so that should give you a good idea of how good he was.  Ezzard was very fast and had good power too.  Let's just say if he would have gotten a chance in say 1947 against Gus Lesnevich, he would have won and kept it until about 1954 when he would have retired with about 11 title defenses and been considered probably the greatest light heavyweight champ ever!
