  1. Yeah I think so. Sheffield is one of my All-Time favorites so I hope he does...and I hope he hits #500 in Detroit!!!

  2. i think he'd get in if he retired right now.

  3. no

  4. I don't see anything stopping him IF he reaches the 500 mark. The steroid scandal did not damage his reputation like it did with other guys. Besides, 500 is like the make-or-break point for the HOF. The fact that he won that ring with Florida doesn't hurt either.

  5. anyone with over 500 home runs with a world series ring should be in  the hall of fame.period.

  6. He was a great player... After he got what he wanted...

Demanding a trade from a team looking at a serious playoff run...

Conveniently performing significantly better AFTER the trade...

    Racism...

    Clubhouse cancer....

    Steroids...

Here's to hoping his awful attitude keeps him out.

Here's some Wikipedia bits proving his awful character...

"However, Sheffield had problems with his temper and attitude, which would continue in the Major Leagues. Once, when he was late to practice, his coach benched him and Sheffield picked up a bat and chased the coach all over the field, resulting in him being kicked off the team for a year"-Little League

" He finished the season with only a .238 batting average and 4 home runs in 24 games. After a decline in play and several injuries, he found himself competing with Bill Spiers in a race for starting shortstop. After this, he was moved to third base and criticized the team saying it was a black and white issue.-------- he was becoming a pain in the clubhouse, and went as far as accusing the organization of being racist after keeping him at third instead of playing him at shortstop where the white Bill Spiers played-------In his final season with the Brewers, he injured his wrist, thumb, and shoulder, playing in only 50 games." -Brewer Days

"[After 4 seasons of underperforming in Milwaukee and his numerous criticisms of coaches, the Brewers traded him]. He contended for the Triple Crown for much of the year" -Padre Days

"He wasn't thrilled about being traded to the expansion Marlins, and would rather have played for a contending team like the Padres"-Marlin Days

"But during the offseason, he began lobbying for a trade because he thought the Dodgers were spending their money stupidly and sliding in the wrong direction, and publicly criticized coaches and teamates"-Dodger Days

"While he was younger, Sheffield and his uncle, Dwight Gooden, were arrested after fighting with police and resisting arrest in Tampa, Florida"

"demanding better pay when he was with the Dodgers, and refusing to play in the inaugural World Baseball Classic, saying "[his] season is when [he's] getting paid."

"What I said is that you’re going to see more black faces, but there ain’t no English going to be coming out. ... (It’s about) being able to tell (Latin players) what to do — being able to control them,” he told the magazine. “Where I’m from, you can’t control us.” He went on to elaborate, "They have more to lose than we do. You can send them back across the island. You can’t send us back. We’re already here."

-Quote about Latin players playing in the MLB

"Sheffield was named in the Mitchell Report as one of the players who had obtained and used steroids"

Gary Sheffield was a true @$$-Hole, and those types shouldn't be inducted into the Hall of FAME.

  7. The steroids scandal will keep him out. So the answer to me is No.

  8. if he doesn't, he'll just claim racism, and then they'll have to let him in, whether he deserves it or not

  9. i doubt it.  an easily forgettable player.  the only thing people will remember about him is his stance at the plate.
