  1. After he lost to Ali Foreman was admitedly not right in the head anymore, the confidence that got him to where he was had been shattered and It took him 10 years to find it again.

Jimmy Young was in the right place at the right time to take advantage of a George Foreman that just started building his confidence back up. Foreman admitted to being scared of Ron Lyle in his first fight after Ali. And just as he was building his confidence his stamina gave out again and he lost to Jimmy Young and did not fight for 10 years.

If he had beaten Jimmy Young, he probably would have fought Ali again and probably lost for the second time to Ali. But by the time Ali was already feeling the effects of Parkinson's. But it was never big punchers that bothered Ali late in his career it was fast fighters, he could deal with the big trodding punchers but quick boxers gave him trouble, so my guess is that he once again beats George Foreman into retirement.

Yea I forgot about a Holmes - Fight, that would have derailed Foreman right then and there and a rematch with Ali would be out of the question. Good point.

  2. It would have been Holmes vs. Foreman for the world title in 78 instead of Norton.
