If Georgia is not taken over should the USA & Nato place troops there?

Should we place troops there to stop another Russian InCursion?

georgia should respect it's master just as we expect mexico, columbia, Iraq et al to respect us. Georgia moved troops into Ossetta 1st, they're only crying now cause they lost. It is all a matter of power and influence. I don't think our little proxy wars have been much help to Africa or us. I don't expect proxy wars in the balkans to be much better.

lets let our diplomats do something, we our taxes pay their bills.  i say make 'em work for that money, give our troops  a break.

We already have troops there.

But, that is Russia's neighborhood. We really have no business there.

If other NATO nations wish to post troops there, then that is their business.

No, I feel that either Russia or Georgia started this conflict they got them selves in they should get themselves out. Georgia wants help because they cant handle the Russians so tey ask the Greatest Military power on earth (U.S.A) and beg for some kind of help. If i was Geirgai i would have already had a somewhat powerful military.

No, the USA and NATO need to think about letting some countries on the NATO periphery that want to join NATO just hang in the wind. They should be neutral buffer states. This would probably be better for the overall security situation.

The Georgian political leadership cannot be trusted.  They are quite capable of dragging the US and NATO into their petty, but incredibly dangerous schemes. They were the ones who started the present bloodletting. If Georgians killed some Americans, the USA's response would not have been more measured than the Russian one.

Don't forget that the US promised Gorbachev to limit NATO expansion if the Soviet Union left Eastern Europe. Building on a lie is not a great idea. Making Russians start to think that they might have to give up everything to defend Russia is not a good idea. Russians are good at defending Russia.

I say no...our military is too stretched as it is.  Maybe it's best if the USA sits out this fight...

the US  effectively encouraged the whole affair...so some responsibility should be taken

.....hopefully diplomatically.
