  1. just stop it, please.

  2. You're right!  We should all become mimes.

  3. Man sought to establish a worldwide religion in defiance of God before the time, so God frustrated his purpose.

Now His purpose has been accomplished you are free to go ahead and your defiance of God will be inconsequential.

Today we have many religions worldwide all in defiance of God, including yours, but He has preserved the truth should any be stirred to find Him.

God is not in religions, including yours.

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Behold, I have told you before.

Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

The learning or not of languages is irrelevant.

  4. We have every right to learn them. It's patently ridiculous to think that there was a Tower of Babel.

  5. Jesus commanded that we go and teach all nations.  The only reason for doing anything is to further God's purpose.  The languages were created because man did not do as commanded.  Now we can learn a language so that we can do as He commands.

  6. God actually confused the languages of humanity not to prevent the tower building but to stop us from universally cooperating on sinful things. Which the Tower of Babel was.

  7. In the Non-biblical Book of Enoch, the writer describes in detail the tower and reasons.  most scholars agree that the corrupt language happened over a period of time, and was also used by the Lord to scatter the people throughout the earth. So the Lord was focused, still for the good of mankind, about the people and period and Gods purposes were accomplished and the time has passed.

Another parallel story tells of a family leaving the tower and praying that their language would not be corrupted which was granted to two large families of about 100 people, who as the Lord wanted, migrated away from the evil influences that were predominate in the area.

  8. Wow.

Every once in a while a question just takes my breath away...

  9. God gave the Apostles the gift of tongues for them to talk in other earthly languages, if we're wrong then God is wrong to which is impossible.

  10. well, god apparently scattered people to the four corners of the earth and gave them different languages - or confused the languages as a punishment for building it and being big-headed or proud (and ignoring god.. the big baby)

  11. The Babel Tower episode was just a singular or unique biblical occurrence as a kind of punishment by God and doesn't refer to language learning in other historical epochs.

  12. God did not in point of fact create languages, man did.

God does not exist except in the minds of the gullible and naive.

  13. No answer.  God of the bible doesn't exist.  Language is an inherent trait of humans.  It would be a form of abuse to prevent a person from learning language.

  14. I thought the tower came first, because men were trying to get to heaven the LORD God confused their tongues and scattered them.

The fact that we aren't natural linguists in general, to put it mildly, confirms the efficacy of that act of God. It matters not that we try to speak these languages. One day, when Jesus returns these problems will be no more.

At Pentecost (in the book of Acts), God sent His Spirit to the Apostles so that they might preach to those visiting Jerusalem of many languages so that the gospel would be  spread.

  15. Languages developed naturally as people spread around the earth and did not keep contact. The Tower of Babel myth was invented to attempt to explain the existence of different languages in a time when ordinary people had no comprehension of the vastness of the world, the diversity of languages etc.

  16. You do have a right to learn, it's just that people back then were abusing their single language to try to be arrogant.

That's why God stopped them because they were taking cruel advantage. If you want to learn a different language, that's perfectly fine.

By the way, get the fish out of that Catholic school and go to a public school. Don't worship Mary, that's Idolization.

  17. Well, the story of babel is nonsense.

A first year linguistics major can prove that like all other things, language evolves as socities split and migrate.

  18. ur talking nonsense !

learn ur languages u dont wanna get an F in french ,do u?

  19. The purpose of learning the language is the issue. The original purpose of the confusion was universal dispersal. That purpose is fulfilled. Now the time is ripe for unification. Learn away!

  20. There is no command to stick to your own language.  Also, Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel to all nations, how can we if we don't know their languages?

  21. Well considering that NONE of the languages spoken now were even spoken 3000-4000yrs ago.  Everything spoken now are combinations & variations of the much much older languages.  So, I don't see a problem.
