  1. What? God is Omnipotent period! the fact that he rest on the seventh day does not mean he's NOT Omnipotent

  2. It's all a big made up story. There really is no God. Sorry.

  3. He didn't.

Muslims don't believe that He rested on the seventh day.

    God (swt) IS omnipotent.

  4. Assuming God exists, ominipotence is an "assumed" trait of God. In reality, it would be impossible to describe God, based on the fact that we have no reliable source to judge him on.

  5. and why doesnt he get his *** down here and show himself to us? instead of making us 'believe'?

  6. 34. These shall enter into my rest] From the scriptures and the- prophets come several definitions of entering the rest of God. A person enters the rest of God whenever he gains a witness of the divinity of the work of the Lord, when he comes to that quiet but powerful assurance Mat God's hand is guiding the prophets and Apostles who preside over his Church and kingdom. It is a settled conviction of the truth, a peace that steadies one in a time of trouble and confusion (see Moroni 7:3; Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, pp. 58, 126). A person enters into the rest of God when he enters into the personal presence of the Lord (see JST Exodus 34:2) or encounters the fulness of the glory of God (D&C 84:24). The rest of God is also that which one enters when one has lived a faithful life and is received into paradise in the postmortal spirit world (see Alma 40:12; Alma 60:13). In the ultimate sense, to enter the rest of the Lord is to enter into what some scriptures call the Church of the Firstborn, the Church of the exalted, that organization beyond the veil whose membership is composed of those who have received the promise of eternal life (see D&C 76:54, 67, 94; D&C 88:5; Hebrews 12:22-23).

  7. Didn't need to, just wanted to. Did he forget to ask your permission or something?

  8. He rested because He was done. Not because He was tired... that is the clear context of the passage.

  9. Like your thought provoking question -- and Happy Labor Day Weekend, by the way.  God was finished and His work was complete - whole - a whole sustaining system, in fact.  He made it and evaluated His whole work when He said "It was good" or "very good".  It was "en total" - without missing elements or features.  That is reassuring to us that He had no second thoughts about missing parts.  Also, this feature of resting on the 7th day is done to establish a pattern for us humans so that 1, We know our Creator and Love Him; and 2, We don't get burned out and overwork ourselves.

Jesus offers us a better way -

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." - Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus is our rest - Get to know Him. Trust or rest your soul in what He has accomplished for you.  God bless you.
