  1. Christians understand that rules made a long time ago don't neccessarily apply to modern life. The taboo against eating pork is because of disease. Now that pork can be safely prepared there is no need to abstain.

  2. Becauses its good tasting.

  3. I'm not sure, but good luck finding an answer.

  4. Somewhere in the New Testament Peter has a dream where God tells him that anything he has made cannot be unclean.

  5. Unclean?

  6. Pigs in Religion:

In ancient Egypt pigs were associated with Set, the rival to the sun god Horus. When Set fell into disfavor with the Egyptians, swineherds were forbidden to enter temples.

In Hinduism the god Vishnu took the form of a boar in order to save the earth from a demon who had dragged it to the bottom of the sea.

In ancient Greece, a sow was an appropriate sacrifice to Demeter and had been her favorite animal since she had been the Great Goddess of archaic times. Initiates at the Eleusinian Mysteries began by sacrificing a pig.

The pig is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. Believers in Chinese astrology associate each animal with certain personality traits.

The dietary laws of Judaism (Kashrut, adj. Kosher) forbid the eating of flesh of swine or pork in any form, considering the pig to be an unclean animal (see taboo food and drink). Seventh-day Adventists and some other fundamental Christian denominations also consider pork unclean as food.

Islam also forbids the eating of flesh of swine or pork in any form, because of its uncleanliness and its immodest nature (see Halal).

In Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy and other older Christian groups, pigs are associated with Saint Anthony, the patron saint of swineherds.

[KJV - Lev. 11:7], states "And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you."

  7. Im pretty sure that the pig is the only animal that has parasites that live in  the muscle tissue even after being cooked. The pig exposes itself to these parasites when it wallows in mud because that is where parasite eggs are generally lain.  Most other animals have these parasites in their blood and once they are cooked they are generally free from these bacterias.

  8. The Bible states that pork is unclean in the old testament.  As a previous person stated, it was simply for people's protection because, if not cooked properly, they could get very sick from eating it.  When Jesus came to Earth, God did away with all of the old testament laws.  We no longer live by them.  So eat pork with God's blessing.  :)

  9. Back in B.C.  the pig was a very dirty animal with ring worm and other bad thing in it for you. In Hebrew school we learned that it was more about protection for the poeple. I now a lot of people that eat pork now

  10. How can that be since there are no gods.

  11. Pig are one of the few animals that carry the same diseases as we do. They eat them now because people think they are cleaner now. They aren't, my dad use to work a pork slaughter house pigs are still unclean.

  12. the ones that know better don't care, the rest just don't know any better.

  13. Why do people kill people it's a sin but it still happens. Pork tastes good so your answer is because we want to.

  14. This is a Jewish question.

  15. Very tasty my dear.

  16. This is basic Christianity 101.

I'm sorry if I sound short, but this question is retarded, and it comes up all of the time.

Jesus expressly said that under the New Testament, ALL food was considered "clean" (I.E.; kosher).  See Mark chapter 7, verses 1-23, for example. There is a deep symbolic reason for this, as Peter found out in Acts chapters 10 & 11 (See also the entire book of Galatians).  The entire counsel of the Apostles sent a letter to the gentiles telling us that we didn't have to keep kosher anymore (Acts 15).  This theme is repeated in several of the letters of the apostle Paul, such as Romans chapter 14, and the aforementioned letter to the Galatians.

  17. Acts 10

9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

17While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found out where Simon's house was and stopped at the gate. 18They called out, asking if Simon who was known as Peter was staying there.
