If Gustav lays waste & evacuation/relief save lives will approval ratings go up for Bush McCain?

The President is there on site with sleeves rolled up stepping in with aid to states and parishes and asking how best to help the efforts. It's a far cry from after Katrina but then everyone was caught flat footed

with no real plans or coordinated of whatever emergency response systems existed on paper.

Why would McCain be at fault and not Biden?  Just curious.  I thought they had the same job.

Whatever happens in New Orleans, I just can't see my way clear to send another check.  Stop building your house below sea level please.

How in the h**l can anyone place blame on McCain for Katrina!?  I don't see how the handling of Gustav is gonna be a positive or a negative for McCain, since he has no direct control over the situation.  Bush is done for and not much is gonna help his legacy, but the failures after Katrina was failures on every level of government.

I am still not sure why we are throwing billions of dollars at a ****-hole like New Orleans that was built below sea level. We should have leveled it after Katrina. Nagin could have found him another chocolate city farther north.

The problem with Katrina was the response.  We spend how many billions a year on homeland security and response?  They dropped the ball on Katrina and said it was an act of nature so they shouldn't be held accountable for the pitiful relief effort.  Flip the script and imagine if it was terrorists who blew up the levies and the response was just as pitiful to help the flood victims, does that make you feel better about homeland security?  Aid was plentiful but corruption and mismanagement was so prevalent it was like dumping 100 dollar bills on a fire to put it out.  They don't want the same fiasco because they've learned not depend on the federal government.  I don't see how a hurricane hitting major cities is good for anybody to tell you the truth.  I think the fact that we squandered the rest of the world's goodwill after 9/11, and gas is 2-3 times higher than it was when Clinton was in office, topped with the fact that the Bush administration has declared all out war on education in this country cannot help John Adolf McCain at all.

Reps  will approve.  Dems knows it's a gimmick.  If they meant it they would have been helping all along, but New Orleans is still a mess since Katrina.  They still waiting for the promised help to repair their homes.  I saw pictures taken when some TV stations visited a couple months ago.
