  1. Nas is NOT hip hop that's why

  2. The "Hip-Hop is Dead" title, just like the "N-Word" title was a big publicity thing.  That album came out around a time where Southern dance music was ruling the radio air-waves and it was the Southern dance music that was supposedly "killing hip-hop".  Nas is a smart man.  He knows that if he started saying "hip-hop is dead" that everyone will.  Guess what?  Everyone did.  I think the message Nas was tryin' to get across was that an era of hip-hop was coming to an end.  The era of the "the old school".  Which is what the song "Where Are They Now?" talks about.

I think by saying hip-hop is "dead" Nas means that he was the one who has to save it.  He was trying to save hip-hop with this album.  In a time where dance music was all over MTV and the radio, the people, and hip-hop music as a genre needed something real.  Real hip-hop.  I hate the terms "real" and "fake" hip-hop, but that's really what it meant.

Overall, it's a very good album.  I suggest you get it.

  3. ..you didnt listen to the album, did you?

  4. Nas is an old grandpa who relies on gimmicks to sell his albums nowadays, even with his strong fan base.

  5. hip hop is dead... its an expression to the people

omg lol no offence but dont u know anything lol

its hi sprofession of corse hes gonna carry on lol if he didnt its not really helping hip hop to become alive agen is it lolll duhhhhhhhhhh

    x*x

  6. Nas is one of the best with his lyrical content

but i agree with the others, he says its had its ups and downs

and also in a rap city interview he says Lil Wayne and Kanye are

    bringin it back

  7. There is a much deeper meaning behind the title of the Album....DL it from Limewire & take a listen to most of the songs.....even in the track "Hip Hop is Dead" he doesn't talk about Hip Hop being dead or dying(other than the ODB hook)..he speaks about what Hip hop was back in the days....

  8. I agree man... Nas is one of the best rappers out there because of his lyrical content. no one out there in the game spits knowledge anymore. No one makes you really think. I mean wayne is tight with his rhymes dont get me wrong... but everything now and days is just bytches, cars, money and material $hyt... no one goes into the story of life anymore really. Think back to the pioneers to da ish... then look at things now.

Good beats + Hot, catchy hook = $$$$$$   ...sadly

  9. H istorically

    I ntelligent

    P eople

    H ate

    O n

    P opularity

It's a fact jack, people hate being told what to listen to, unless you are a sheep that it.

  10. Well hip-hop is dead is just a song well hip hop is kindof burning out with artist like hurricane chris, souljaboy. Nas is trying to build it up again, and his album if you listen to lyrics is full of meaning many philosophy behind it and even supporting Obama. On the other hand he is signed to def Jam and the company want to make as much $$ as possible so he continues..
