If I'm 18, Do I Need To Get A Permit?

Ok, so I'm 18, but haven't formally gotten a license yet. I've looked everywhere on the DMV site, but their instructions are a bit vague concerning this situation.

If I'm 18, do I need to apply for a permit, complete 6 months of behind the wheel training, and then take my test? Or can I go straight to the behind the wheel's test?

If so, what's the process? By the way, if age matters, I was born June 11th, 1990.

  1. no once you reach 17 and half you can go straight to the test

  2. You do not need a permit.

Although I do believe you do need to take driver's ed classes for drunk driving.  For the school I went to, it was only 4 classes.

  3. nope. pass go, collect $200, n get a license, easy as that

  4. Since you are the legal age to drive you should be able to go right to the test, unless you want the permit time to practice.

  5. You do not need to have the 6 month period, but I would check with the DMV and see if you can take the driving test without a permit.
