  2. Generally you are Asian. More specifically you are Pacific Islander.

  3. We are Asian. Sorry to say...even if we are close to the Pacific Ocean, we are still Asian. (Does that make sense?!=P)

  4. Technically, we are Asians, since the Philippines is located in Asia...

But I do agree that we look like Pacific Islanders in some way...

  5. i always thought pacific islander and asian to be the same? because currently i live in the united states and whenever theres like surveys or testing they ask you for your race and its always

    -caucasian/white

    -african american

    -hispanic/latino

    -asian/pacific islander

    soo yeah

100% ur asian i mean seriously its in asia O-o

but pacific islander? not so sure

    but definitely asian

    hope that helps!

  6. You are Asian.. Pacific Islanders are people who live in Micronesia, Polynesia and Melanesia

  7. We're Asians.  Be proud of it!=)

  8. We're considred Pacific Islander =)

  9. Filipinos are considered asians NOT pacific islanders.  Only people from Polynesia,  Micronesia, and Melanesia are Pacific Islanders.

Just because Philippines has  many islands on the Pacific doesn't translate to Pacific Islanders. If it were so, then I don't see why Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and Taiwan could not be considered Pacific Islanders since they are countries of more than one island on the Pacific Ocean.

Philippines, rightfully, is located in southeast asia and NOT in Oceania where Pacific Islanders belong.

Are you not proud of being Asian?

  10. We are Asians!

  11. # "Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. It includes "Asian Indian," "Chinese," "Filipino," "Korean," "Japanese," "Vietnamese," and "Other Asian.""[9]

    # "Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands. It includes people who indicate their race as "Native Hawaiian," "Guamanian or Chamorro," "Samoan," and "Other Pacific Islander."[9]

  12. the philippines is in asia,so what are we?

  13. i would never want to be called asian cuz we are pacific islander. no offense i think asians are cool

  14. We are considered Pacific Islanders..

I don't really know.. I usually say Pacific Islander...

  15. The philipines is a series of islands in the pacific ocean... what do you think?

  16. hmm idkk

  17. It seems a lot of Filipinos doubt their nationality?

    Simple logic:

If you're a resident of the Pacific Islands or Oceania then you are Pacific Islander.

If you are born Filipino living in the Phils. or any part of the world except in the Pacific Islands then you're a Filipino.

  18. filipinos are all asians

  19. how come they didnt know?... ASIAN baby! :)

  20. Both Asian and Pacific Islander.

Filipino culture and ancestry is definitely Pacific Islander. The only reason why Filipinos are classified as Asians is because their country is near Southeast Asia.

It must be important to know that before American occupation, the Philippines was considered as part of Micronesia, and the Filipinos as Micronesians (i.e. Pacific Islander).

  21. Definitely ASIAN.

"Inhabitants of the following islands and regions are generally not considered to be Pacific Islanders: Russia's Kuril Islands, Alaska's Aleutian Islands, and the Taiwanese, Japanese, Philippines, and Indonesian islands which, although technically bordering edges of the Pacific Ocean, do not fall under the definition of "Pacific Islanders" because such islands are not actually located within the three regions of Oceania (Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia)"

    Read all about it here:

  22. Unless you're of Polynesian descent or a similar origin, most Filipinos are Asian.

  23. well your'e asian. But not in that japanese or chinese way.Filipinos are really different from other surrounding asian cultures the pinoy appearance is not look asian or the culture im 1/4 filipino and i hate to be called asian just because im quater filipino.

  24. Asian.

The only Pacific Islander I know of, that is in the Philippines is 6'9" and plays in the PBA, Asi Taulava.

I wonder if Indonesians ever question if they are Asian or Pacific Islanders? How About the Japanese? Or the Taiwanese?

  25. YOU are all wrong! HISPANIC!

  26. If you open the books of History, Manila was the capital of the Spanish colonies of East Indies which include the present day Guam, The Marianas, The Caroline Islands and the Philippines. Collectively, they were called Las Islas Filipinas until 1898 when the Philippines was ceded to the United States.

Having said that, the Filipinos are Pacific Islander but the Philippines' affinity with Asian people makes them Asian. As for myself, I will always consider the Filipino people as both Pacific Islander and Asian.

  27. your actually Asian.I'm Filipino too.You are not Pacific because I think that is where America is.
