I need a motorcycle permit because I currently reside in GA, but I have a texas drivers license. What do i DO?

  1. Yes, you can if you're military. I don't know if others can. Just take the MSF Basic Riders Course and take your certification to the DMV in Texas the next time you're there. They'll put an M on your license right there.


  2. If you're going to maintain your residency status in Texas, then you'll have to get a motorcycle endorsement on your Texas driver's license.

    If your vehicle or insurance is registered in Georgia, then your license has to be from Georgia as well.

  3. Simple answer. All you have to do is CONFORM to the laws of your state of LEGAL residency. If your license is a Texas license and your PERMANENT residence is in Texas, then you can drive on Texas license. BUT if you license is a Texas license and you LEGAL residency is Georgia, Then you are required to obtain a license in that state. Years ago you had six months or temporary residence and then you had to declare residency in the state you were living in. I think Bush and Clinton ruined that one though.
