If I'm a Linux user and the other party is with xp will all features of yahoo messenger be functional?

  1. Yahoo Messenger uses a protocol called YMSG to communicate with other users. Since it is only a protocol, there should be no dependency on operating system. If it is a question of what messenger to use, then there is Pidgin, a free messenger that can communicate in most common protocols, or a program for Linux called Wine, which allows the system to run windows applications, meaning that you could use Yahoo Messenger without worrying about lost features.


  2. um yes. yahoo messenger uses its own protocall it has nothing to do with your os try installing pidgion messenger it supports allmost all popular protocalls including yahoo msn aim ect. it may allready be installed if you have ubuntu (witch is what i am using) go to applications internet pidgion messenger
