Question:

If I'm a United Kingdom Citizen in the US, do I need a passport to go back?

I turned 18 March 2 of this year, and I have lived here since I was 2, nearly 3.. I came over on my mom's passport, but because my parents waited so long to turn me into a permanent legal resident with a SSN, it appears the US government cannot locate my departure slip anymore. So is it possible, with my birth certificate and my old civilian military ID I oculd get to the Uk without a passport in case I don't have all the paperwork or forms required for a passport?

I have submitted the application and think I have everything, but my mom destroyed her old passport that I came over on (becaus ein 92 under 16 could travel on a parent's passport) and she never filled out anything about it, and she doesn't have her citizenship documents with her, they're over in the UK. And I've already sent in my application and whatnot. So is it possible to get back without a passort?

  1. You might get in on your birth certificate but it will be messy.  It will be messy trying to get out of the US without a passport.  So, you need a passport.

  2. You need a passport, they are not going to let you fly without one especially on an international flight
