supposed to study?

Someone once told me that the reason they call it "Full-time" is because you have to add in two hours of out-of-class study time. So at 12 in class hours I need 24 hours out of class to study? Is this true? Has anyone else heard this? That's a little crazy if you think about it.

4-hrs in class (4 hrs per day 3x per week)

Plus: 8 hours of study time (4hrs in class x 2 study hours). Are you kidding me?

Where the heck do I fit that time in? That means I don't get officially done with school until 9pm. I get out of school at 1pm add 8 hrs a day for study time and breaks and dinner I wouldn't get done until like 11pm. Where is my shower? Where's dinner? Where's freaking lunch?

  1. I'm not sure if I understand you correctly but I think you should study at home as much as you need, for example, if you learn the material quickly you shouldn't stand on the same pages of the book for hours, just enough to remember the important information. It may take you 15 minutes for one subject or 1 hour for another - take your time and see what schedule is best for you.

  2. Crazy?

12 hours a week, plus 24 hours of study time? That makes 36 hours, which is the same, or less, than a full time job.

  3. It all depends on how you learn and how fast you learn, I have heard the rule you are talking about but unless you are an incredibly slow learner/ reader I would say you need to figure on this (at least until you figure out a good pattern for your self) you need to invest the same amount of time at home as you do in the class room, e.g. you have an hour class you will probably need to study an hour at home, also add an hour for quizzes and 1-2 hours min for tests and 3-4 hours for papers, I know this sounds like a lot but you will probably find that you have extra time left, as you may not need to study every night and you will find out as you go exactly how long you need for each subject, good luck and take good notes, it will help cut down on the study time a lot.

  4. Hi

Ok so I have the same problem your having

i have 4 classes that = 3 hours .... ok well  the thing is you have to be organized you have to say from this hour to this hour im gona do this and from this one to this one im a do this its just simply about organizing...

dont get to strees just relax things will fall into place youll have time to shower silly and do other stuff =P

    best of luck

  5. I have not heard of the study rules you just mentioned, but i believe we accomodate our own schedules as needed. i was a fulltime student and a mom, with all the motherly duties and then some and i mananged my time well  and kept myself on the dean's list every year. Be realistic, you are the only one that knows how much studying you can handle or how much you may need..good luck and Im sure you will do well, you sound very bright.
