    The problem with shellfish allergies is that you are not actually allergic to the creature itself. You are allergic to a specific protein found in all saltwater creatures.  Your body views this protein as a toxic substance, and your body responds with an allergy reaction, in most cases it can be fatal.

    So I would recommend that you stay away from ALL saltwater creatures, just to be safe.
