  1. The best airport from the US is Rome Fuimicino (Leonardo Da Vinci) code FCO.  This is on the Southwest side of Rome.

There is an airport in Naples but typically there are very limited flights (and they are very expensive).

If you do not plan on renting a car, you can take the train into Rome and then connect to Naples.  There are a few different types of trains that will connect you to Naples.  It all depends on how much you want to spend and how fast you want to get there.

If you are planning on renting a car, it will take you about 2 hours from the time you connect to the A1 highway from the R.A.C.  Depending on when you get to Rome, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to go from the airport to the A.1.

My family lives halfway between Rome and Naples so unfortunately I have had to sit through this traffic too many times.  We go to Italy just about every summer and the traffic never gets any better.
