I guess I can slam on the clutch and the front and rear brake to stop. But then once I do, what happens next? If I let off the shift to third and engage the clutch, isn't the bike gonna stall?

  1. you do not have to let the clutch in every gear

if you need to make a quick stop pull the clutch in and hit the brakes. even if you comes to a complete stop just downshift to first [or what ever gear you need] then let the clutch out

  2. Ummm... step on the shifter 3 times as you are using the clutch and front & rear brake. Now when you engage the clutch you will be in 1st.

  3. I down action -1 shift-you cant go direct from 4th to 1st in one motion

And dont do it to fast you may over rev and scatter your engine

  4. You usually just keep shifting down until the shift pedal won't go down anymore.  That's why, on most, neutral is a half-step up.  Or you can keep track of the gears in your head.

  5. downshift--as your slowing down

  6. The best way to get back to neutral is with the engine running, hold on front or rear brake, slightly release the clutch lever while applying light pressure on the gear shift until you find neutral.

  7. Hold the clutch lever in.

Press down on the shift lever - it goes into 3rd - let your foot up.

Press the shift lever down again - it goes into 2nd - let your foot up.

Press the shift lever down again - it goes into N then 1st
