If I'm out of town "on business" can I deduct a trip to the strip club off my taxes?

I went with some colleagues, and we did discuss business for most of the evening.

  1. Yes and No, unless you are in the strip club business and checking out talent, you probably can't expense the cover charge. But food and drink can be deducted as a meal expense, there is no rule on WHERE you eat.


  2. Yeah...right.  Just try and get that past the accounting dept. (If they are sharp you may not only have to cover the expenses yourself - your integrity might be questioned)  If I were you I wouldn't even consider turning those receipts in with an expense report.  Hope you didn't use a Company credit card for that evening.

Yes you can as long as you discussed business within 24hrs of the entertainment read irs publication 463 chapter 2 What entertainment expenses are deductible it includes but not limited to nightclubs,social, athletic, sporting clubs, on hunting, fishing vacation and similar trips, theaters and so forth and so on.
