take the underground, i love it! while you're there you should visit also visit picadilly, the royal albert hall and the science museum.

There's no need to rent a car unless you want to.

You can get a train from Paddington or a coach from Victoria to Oxford, and then get the No 20 bus to Woodstock. It stops outside the palace gates. (Ask the driver if you're unsure where to get off).
