I already have my I-20 and need to renew my passport, and the passport number will change in the process, should I get a new I-20 after that?

  1. I-20 and DS-2019 forms do not list your passport number on them. If you are worried about this; ask to keep your old passport. I imagine that your US visa is in the one that you want to replace anyhow, so this means that you need to keep your old passport with the visa in addition to the new one, but don't worry about a reissued I-20.

  2. No, it's not going to matter as long as you are one in the same person who is mentioned on the I-20. The requirement for entry is that you have a passport valid for at least six months. That's the passport requirement.

If the name, date of birth, and citizenship on the I-20 is the same as the passport, your current I-20 will be adequate.
