  1. are you going to do that every time you get a virus i think not,

you will be doing it a lot,

i have had XP running for over four years now and i have not had to reinstall yet ,

    i probably never will.

there are three things you need to do.

first go here do on-line scan

it will remove the viruses for you.

second go here do Clean Up Scan.

and third go get a decent AV system here.

that lot will put you straight.

  2. Delete the partition and create a new one and it wipes the whole thing out.

  3. No,you have to run antivirus and antispyware programs until you clean it up. I'd recommend AVG free for viruses and SUPERantispyware for spyware. You need to run them both until you get a clean result.

  4. do not take avg cause it will give u a blue screen of death thats what i got after installing mine but thank god that it still works and yes it should if the virus didnt hit the harddrive.

  5. gonna have to format it but please make sure you have all the original disks like drivers and utilities and your operation system and that !

  6. not if the viruses are in the hard drive

  7. If you format it

  8. First back up any files you want to keep, like Music, Documents, etc.

    Burn them to a disc.

After that, insert your XP disc and turn off your computer.

Turn on your computer. It should automatically enter setup. If it doesn't there should be some option of booting from a cd or dvd. If there is, select it.

Once in setup, do a clean install, this means that it erases everything on your harddrive, and installs a fresh copy of XP. Therefore, all your viruses will be gone. After setup is finished, just place the files you backed up on the disc back to your computer.

    Done!

    Hope this helps!

  9. You should format your HDD before re installing windows
