If I am a freshman running track in high schoo and i run the mile (1600) in 4:59 what should my 1500 time be??

  1. You can set it up as a proportion like this,:

    it takes you 299 secs. to run one mile 1600, I converted your time in minutes to seconds to make it easier to work with.

    299/1600 = x/1500

    1600x = 448500

    x = 280.3125 sec.

    which is about a 4:40 min. if you run at the same rate as you did you 4:59 mile run, because your time for the 1500 is based of your speed for your mile run.

    and a 4:59 is pretty impressive!! good work!!


  2. well around 4 44 because just take your pace 400 splits which are 75 seconds about (take a second) then divide that by four and take off that from your 1600

  5. It should be faster.  Do the math.

    if you do 1600 meters in 4:59, you should do 1500 in slightly less than 4:42.  If you ran the exact same speed, you'd finish at 4:42, but it's slightly less distance... shoot for 4:40.
