My final decree will be on the 26th of August I have been seperated for over 2 years but I am wanting to be remarried within that 180 day waiting period, can I do this and would it be legal. My divorce was in Nebraska and I will be married in South Carolina where they dont have that law.

  1. no

  2. From a lawyer.  You can't get married until after the 180 period because your divorce isn't final until then so you would be committing bigamy to get married in South Carolina because your divorce isn't final in the other state.

  3. You cannot remarry until after the 180 day period.

You can however ask the courts to dispense with the requirement of the waiting period, but you they rarely grant it unless your ex is in agreement with it. Plus you would probably need a lawyer to apply for it.
