  1. If you are legally moving to the US then you will have to take the written and driving test again, according to the Indiana BMV. They no longer accept foreign licenses as a proof of driving experience.

  2. Expect to take a driver's test.  If you're only visiting then of course you can use your Canadian license to rent a car etc, but if you're moving then you'll need to get a valid Indiana license which will involve a written test.  In fact, when I moved from Canada to California I had to take a road test as well.  It's a hassle but it's not like it's going to be hard to pass as long as you brush up on the weird "never see them again" signs and what they mean.

  3. check to see if there is reciprocity between us and canada (which i imagine there is). More than likely you may have to take a written test

Yes, a full Canadian license that is current is valid in the US. You may drive with your Canadian license within the borders of the United States due to reciprocal agreements thee USA and Canada have with each other in regards to driver's license. i did find the blurb below..maybe that will help..looks like you can just exchange :)

"If you plan on staying in the United States for a lengthy period of time you should check with the State in which you plan to remain in to make certain that your license will be valid to drive on for the entirety of your trip. If you become a resident instead of a visitor to the United States then the state in which you reside will normally require you to exchange your Canadian license for a State license."
