If I am trying to get people on my friends list how will i do it?

I am trying to get friends on my list but..... have no list! ............HHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPP...

In the person's page you want to add , underneath the picture area is a green + cross that says ADD, click on that. another page will open where you will see a genetic yahoo invitation, you can erase that if you like and personalize your invitation and click on submit. Yahoo does the rest.
