on the web there are plenty of sites -free- that will calculate the amount of tile, amount of thin set or mastic to be used and cost. i'm betting your contractor isn't cheating but for piece of mind do as i suggest, again, it's free! good luck.

TAKE HEED! DON'T confuse linear meters with square feet! make sure to convert them and if your contractor doesn't know to do this CAN 'EM!!

You're not providing enough info. You don't give the dimensions of the room or if there's any doors or entryways into the room. Basically you would measure the length of your walls in meters and add them up to find out how much you need.
