avi format. If your files are in Bin and Cue format you can either burn a vcd using nero burning ram or you can download vcdgear(its free) and it will convert it to avi format.Hope this helps.

DVD format is VOB or MPEG-2.

if you r using nero software then no need to worry about writing video files. there is a option to automatically detect and write, that u can write & play dvd into any hardware or DVD player. although if u want to write it separetely then u can write it   .avi , .jpeg, .gif etc.
