If I am using someone elses WiFi will they be able to see that I am using it and see things like my passwords?

I have a sony mylo 2 that uses WiFi, If I am by a house that has it i can connect to it, but if i do will whoever lives in that house see that i am using it? if i go on aim will they be able to see my passwords or hack into my buddy list? any other info would be nice! thanks.

  1. Yes, they can detect and see if someone else is using their wireless network. By the indicator light alone in the wireless modem, you can detect that someone is connected in your private network. The security of the modem they are using can detect your IP and the brand/type of wireless equipment you are using. But they have to be atleast a level one hacker to know exactly who, where and explore your mylo? And the bandwidth you are using is not alarming to them.. relax. anyway its their responsibility to secure their wireless network. And as for hardcore hackers they are not interested in hacking some sony mylo?,...It is a little risk on your part and a stupid neglect on them, not securing their wireless network. I myself use those unsecured wifi's..
