If I am zoned animal husbandry , Can the city change an ordinance that will cause me to get rid of my horses?

I have been dealing with this for 3 years , When I bought our horse farm , Had no idea Was surrounded by person that have lived here for years and think its there job to try to control us . we have owned a horse farm for years and when we looked at our home it was listed as a horse farm , now they want to limit us to how many we can have and we were supost to be and are zoned animal husbandtry , so what should we do .

  1. If you already have the animals, then no. You are considered grandfathered in. But, they can stop you from getting anymore.

Some of the laws vary by state.  In my area if your home is zoned agriculture for animals, then they can't change it.  However, when you sell the house, the property zoning can be changed.  I think this is rediculous, because it decreases the value of the homes.  Your neighbor should have no say on the zoning of your property.  Check with your county zoning commission to find out what the rules are, then maybe send a note to your neighbor with the zoning rule, and a request to stop harrassing you.
