  1. You are entitled to a set dollar amount of financial aid based on your academic and financial aid year.  You must complete the required courses (credits) before you are eligible to receive additional funding.  If you did not use the entire allotment of FA, then you can "transfer" the remaining amount to a different school.

    Hope this helps

    Addition:

I hope this helps clarify.  Your freshman year in school, you must complete 24 credits, to be considered a sophomore.  In regard to financial aid, you will receive "x" amount of dollars to complete those credits.  Let's say, for example, you receive $10,000.00.  Now lets say you have completed 18 credits, and have used $7500.00 in Financial Aid.  Provided you did not disqualify yourself from financial aid, you SHOULD be eligible to receive the remaining $2500.00 that you did not use, at the next institution.  The remainder that you have, which in this example is $2500.00, is the only amount of financial aid you can receive until after you complete your first year (24 credits).  Does that help to clarify more for you?

  2. First off, you don't say why you're losing your financial aid and that reason will determine whether you can get financial aid somewhere else.

What Jeremy was telling is that you get "x" amount of dollars per year.  You have to take a certain number of credits each semester/year and have adequate grades in order to qualify for financial aid for the next year.
