If I become a muslim can I have more them one wife?

I'm thinking about becoming a muslim because I believe in mohammed (pbuh) I want to marry my other three wifes but I'm unsure if its legal in england plus I will be able to bring them to england from india as well as them claiming money from the english goverment. Can this happen?

Whatever your religion, your marriages are still regulated by the country you live in.  The U.K. currently prohibits polygamy, so you could not legally marry more than one woman there.  I do not know what the laws in India are.

Firstly, you shouldn't convert simply for polygamy.

also, polygamy isn't legal in Britain, unless you marry in a Muslim country and bring your wifes to Britain. However, your first wife will be the only recognised wife according to the English Government.

You also need to consider that according to Islamic law, each wife MUST be treated equally, equal money spent, equal time spent etc etc.

You must also be in a secure enough financial position to pay the dowry for each wife, and keep each wife in a secure financial position as many muslim wifes to not work.

Not because they are lazy, but because in Islam women are so highly respected and treasured that it is their duty to keep the house tidy, or work in parliment.

In the past it seems as if they only got married to be able to enter the country, then once they have tied the knot, they do a moonlight flit, as they dont need you any more. any bills incurred is then down to you. dont do it.
