If I believe in the following, which Political party would I be attracted to in Canada?

Question

* Very strong environmental protection

* No death penalty

* Legalized marijuana

* The right to chose

* Diplomacy and peace first, to convince others with actions not aggressions

* Freedom of the press

I'm sure I'll think of more.

As a side note: Do you think I'll fit in?

Try the Green Party.  I think they are sympathetic to #3 on your list.  

The great thing about Canada is you are free to do your own research and choose which ever party you like and unlike the states one province's votes count the same as the next province.  None of this Super delegate bullsh!t.

lol...yes, you will definitely fit in in some circles....

The NDP, Green Party, and Marijuana Party (not really apart of politics in Canada, but able to vote for them in some areas in elections) may fit the bill for you...

I don't think that any party (other than some conservatives perhaps) would even think about talking about the death penalty in politics....

Environment, marijuana, and military,  are big issues here right now....I think that abortion/g*y marriages are only issues with the conservative party in....

With those views you will fit in in Canada, no problem.  As others have said either the New Democratic Party or the Green Party would be good choices, but the Liberal Party could also be an option for you.  The party differences in Canada are not as huge as they sometimes are made to seem at election time.

That would be the NDP then. However most of the political parties follow those guide lines more or less. I take it you're from the United States. This is liberal Canada. You may be shunned in the states, but if you have those kind of views you'll fit in, in most places.

As a side not, marijuan is technically ilegal in canada however it is generally very excepted by the public and not possesion isnt strictly enforced. In some provinces, you can actually have a small amount legally. Another thing, g*y marriage is legal here which the majority seem to support. That's another liberal idea.

There are 3 main political parties in Canada...

The Conservatives (Similar to Republicans)

The Liberals (Similar to Democrats)

The NDP (New Democratic Party)

The Conservatives and Liberals control the vast vast majority of politics in Canada so don't expect to see anyone in power but one of these two parties.

Regarding your question..... of the major 3, the NDP is most inline with your views, I think they advocate all of the points you made.

Just about any party in Canada fits that description....just some are more stronger favor legalization, and environmental issues.
