According to a scale, I weight about 160 and I'm 5'3. I want to lose weight quickly, but healthily. If I go bikeriding for 2 hours with very few pedaling breaks will I lose around 30 pounds in 3 months or less/more?

  2. 2 hours will mean 1000 calories. you need 3000 calories for 1 pound of fat. so that means you need 90 days exactly.

    but this means you have to ride every day and not to chance your eating habits otherwise what you burn in the exercice will come back again

  3. It is possible. I recommend keeping a food journal. Monitoring your food intake is the best way to loose weight. Don't eat anything unless you weigh or measure it. If you don't know the calories, don't eat it. As for your riding you can probably get the results you want by riding an hour a day 5X per week. You will need to increase your mileage later as you build more fitness base.

  4. In theory you can lose 30 pounds by riding about 2000 miles in three months ... assuming you don't eat extra food or better yet reduce caloric intake. But as you ride you will also gain some muscle, which is denser than fat, so you may not lose as much weight overall as you might think, but will be fitter and have a much lower fat proportion.

    Just remember to work up to longer rides (10% / week maximum), only go fast enough to get your heart rate up to 120-130 bpm, aim for distance/time not speed, drink water, watch you don't increase food intake too much, and use a fairly fast peddle stroke (70-90 rpm) to minimize stress in the knees.  Try to think of riding as fun .. not work. And use the bike for errands as well as exercise rides. Find others to ride with if possible.

  5. You dont wont to lose weight to fast cause it is so unhealthy to do so. So continue your bike rides however do be careful that you dont lose to much weight so quickly.

    Dont forget to lose weight you still need to eat well.

  6. it really depends on if you diet and how far you go in those 2 hours... just remember to keep hydrated if you exercise to long without water you could faint... you probably won't lose 30 pounds in a month... maybe aroun 20 but if you stick to it you should reach your goal!!!
