If I bought a Sky box from eBay, would I need the minidish?

I would want to use it for the freesat channels that Sky provide, but would I need to use the minidish to pick these up, or would they work through my normal aerial?

Just basically does anyone know how it would work?

I also thought about getting the Sky, Pay Once Watch Forever deal, anyone got this, was it worthwhile?

  1. yes , you need the dish

  2. You need a dish, but not necessarily a sky dish.

The sky+ box will only work with a satellite dish (and LNB)

You can get a freeview box that records to hard drive - like sky+ but its called a PVR - it works with your aerial.

The PVR will work ONLY with an aerial and not a satellite dish.

  3. You need a minidish with the Sky box in order to pick up the Sky channels. As when my contract ended with Sky they allowed me to keep both the box and minidish, so I now have the Sky, Pay Once Watch Forever deal.
