If I bought an item on ebay, should I pay for it right away trusting the seller to send my item?

ok so I bought an item from ebay today (for my first time) and I don't know if I should pay for the amount right now by PayPal without knowing that the seller will actually send the item and not scam me. I'm worried :( I really want experienced buyers to answer me.

I buy stuff all the time. Yes, pay right now or they wont send it. Check out their feedback and you can always go to the answer center that they hove on the site:)

Did you check their feedback rating before bidding?  If the feedback rating is good you should feel confident about the seller.  And if you don't pay, then you definitely won't get your item.

Most sellers will not ship the item until they receive payment.  And most sellers have a time frame for when payment is due, & what types of payment they accept.  I've never shipped an item before receiving payment.
