I bought my plane ticket before the new baggage rule of X dollars more for every piece of luggage per person. Do these rules apply to me, or am I grandfathered?

In order to get Best Answer, you will need to post a reliable link to this answer; I've tried and I couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

  1. No one can give you a reliable link without knowing what airline!

  2. just let the ticket counter agent know you bought your ticket before the rules went into effect. you should not have to pay.

  3. It depends on what airline you are flying. I recently flew on South West and this was what their website says about when you purchased the tickets as to what the charge is or whether or not that is one. Hope this helps!!!

  4. I can provide you personal experience.  I just flew a week ago on a ticket purchased prior to the bag fees, I was not charged.  When the rules first were announced the airlines stated that tickets purchased prior would not be charged.  If you can't find the info you seek, call your airline to clarify.

I did find a link from american airlines.

  5. Well, the only good link I found was on United, and your scenario is not listed as an exception.

I don't think they care when you booked, they just want the money.  :-(
