  3. NO. A trifecta box just means that the three horses that u pick can be in any combination. But it has to be all three horses for first second and third.

  4. Exacta Box , Perfecta Box,  or  Quinella is first two finishers.

    Trifecta Box requires first three finishers in any order.

Only if no one bets on the correct/winning trifecta combination.  If there is no money wagered on the winning combination (very rare) then the payoff would include those wagers that have the first two finishers correctly selected.  For example if a race ran and the order of finish was 4-5-6 and no one wagered on that trifecta combination then the trifecta would payoff for a 4-5-ALL.  So if you bet a 4-5-8, in this instance you would win something.
