  1. Construction of a generic house (no fancy add-ons like custom cabinets, tile, hardwood flooring, granite counter tops, fancy fixtures, etc.) runs about $200 to $250 per square foot. This includes slab/foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, gas, roof, interior and exterior wall coverings, interior and exterior paint, windows, and generic cabinets, flooring, electrical fixtures, and plumbing fixtures. So, I think you would be hard pressed to get much done at $125 a square foot.
